Strategies to prepare for a dry spring and summer

Autumn and Winter have been really tough and the outlook for Spring and Summer are uncertain.

The SA Drought Hub, in conjunction with Turner Agri and Talking Livestock, will be hosting a series of workshops to support farmers in preparing their business to respond to the coming season.

Three new workshops are currently being developed in the following locations:

WORKSHOPS WILL INCLUDE
Workshops will run from 9am – 4pm and the presenters will cover various topics including:

  • Making difficult decisions around selling, retaining and/or feeding sheep and cattle
  • Developing sheep and cattle feed budgets and understanding trigger points
  • Developing a water budget (if applicable)
  • Developing sheep and cattle feed rations and the use of containment feeding
  • Managing sheep and cattle to optimise their performance for the coming year
  • Long term economic impacts

COST:
FREE but booking is ESSENTIAL as the workshops are limited to 20 places only.
