Workshop: Pulse preparedness in the low rainfall zones

March 26 @ 8:40 am - 1:45 pm

SA Drought Hub

Pulses have gained popularity with South Australian growers in recent years. As well as being profitable in their own right, they make an excellent break crop for cereals, retaining some moisture in the soil and increasing soil nitrogen.

The SA Drought Hub, along with the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and the South Australian Grain Industry Trust (SAGIT) are presenting a workshop pulses and pulse management in the low rainfall zone.

Engage with industry experts on 26 March 2024 at this free in-person event at Cambrai Sportsground.

Lunch included!

  • Tony Craddock (Pinion Advisory) about his personal experience growing pulses in the low rainfall zone
  • Sarah Day (SARDI) will cover pulse agronomy and update attendees on pulse varieties
  • Sam Trengove (Trengove Consulting) will give a run-through of weed management
  • Sara Blake (SARDI) will take a deep dive into pulse diseases and disease management
  • Larn McMurray (Grains Innovation Australia) will give his insights on lentil and field pea varieties suitable for low rainfall areas.

Each presentation includes an audience Q&A session.

The workshop and lunch are free, but registrations are essential.
