BIGG Pasture Walk and Beneficial Insect Workshop

FREE

The Barossa Improved Grazing Group (BIGG) invites you to this free SA Drought Hub-funded event. Join local farmers, industry leaders and researchers to learn how pasture and hay options can improve production, including the importance of beneficial insects.

1.00pm – 1.50pm, Mitchell’s, 20 Hutton Vale Rd, Angaston
  • Mixed species pasture trial: multi-species vs single species (Brett Nietschke, BIGG & Craig John, Coopers)
  • Novel pasture species trial: clovers vs medic vs serradella (Matt Denton, The Uni. of Adelaide & David Peck, SARDI)

 

2.20pm – 2.50pm, Bonython’s, 143 Loffler Rd, Truro
  • Multi species hay vs straight oaten hay: what’s looking better? (Tracy Bonython, Bon Chevon)

 

3.10pm 5.00pm, Koch’s (Bunyara), 467 Shannon Rd, Moculta (off Bastion Hill Rd)
  • 3.10pm – 3.40pm: Insect activity in local multi species and single species paddocks (Mike Nash, What Bugs You)
  • 3.45pm – 5.00pm: Beneficial insect workshop: beneficial crop and pasture insects and their identification (Mike Nash)

 

All welcome at the Bunyara Shearing Shed from 5.00pm for drinks and a BBQ, followed by BIGG’s AGM.
