Key achievements and results:

Marni Griffiths

Marni was employed as an intern of the Hub for nearly 2 years, working with researchers to facilitate on-ground activities that increase extension and adoption of research findings. Her role was co-funded by the South Australian Grain Industry Trust (SAGIT) and delivered through the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Waite Agronomy team.

Marni has a Bachelor of Environmental Policy and Management and an Honours degree in Physical Geography from the University of Adelaide. Her Honours research explored the use of diatoms as indicators of water quality and drought.

In 2024, Marni commenced a new role with the SA Department for Environment and Water in the Native Vegetation and Pastoral Land Management Branch.

Marni’s thoughts on the hub internship

This internship has been a great opportunity! I have attended some great events, gained knowledge about the agriculture industry and met some amazing people along the way.

Coming from an environmental policy background, I never would have thought that I would be in the field on the back of a tractor sowing a lentil trial or travelling interstate to learn about pulses. But every wonderful experience has been fun and worthwhile! I would do it all again if given the chance.

I look forward to my new role and can only hope that it is as exciting as my time with the SA Drought Hub.
