The SA Drought Hub and South Australian Grain Industry Trust have, since 2021, partnered to co-invest and support the Regional Internship in Applied Grains Research and Extension program (the Regional Internship Program), which helps build capacity and resilience in the South Australian grains industry. In South Australia, internship programs have been run with Hart Field-Site Group, Ag Innovation & Research Eyre Peninsula, Mackillop Farm Management Group and Mallee Sustainable Farming, with demonstrated success at attracting and retaining skills in the regions.
In addition, various other internship and capacity building initiatives have been supported by the SA Drought Hub, including a Summer Communications Intern with the Barossa Improved Grazing Group (2025/26), a Student Compendium Project Officer Intern alongside AIA/AUASA (2024 – 2026), and a Trainee Extension and Research Officer with co-funded by the SA Drought Hub and SAGIT, delivered through the and SARDI Waite Agronomy Team (2022 – 2024).
