SA Drought Hub champions the next generation through support for Student Compendium
The South Australian Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub (SA Drought Hub) is proud to support the 2025 Student Compendium, an initiative connecting students with exciting opportunities and careers across Australia’s primary industries.
The Student Compendium is a collaboration between the Ag Institute Australia (SA Division) and the University of Adelaide Agricultural Students’ Association (AUASA). It serves as a comprehensive resource where primary industry organisations showcase opportunities for students and educators to connect with primary industries.
Each year, the publication highlights more than 450 programs and opportunities, including high school and vocational training pathways, internships, work experience, graduate and trainee programs, scholarships, professional development initiatives, awards, conferences, and industry networks.
SA Drought Hub Knowledge Broker Tony Randall said supporting the Compendium aligns closely with the Hub’s mission to strengthen the drought resilience and preparedness of our farms and regional communities in South Australia.
“We know that an important element of building drought resilience in regional communities is to link students with careers and opportunities in the sector,” Mr Randall said.
Through the AIA and AUASA working group, the Compendium is being distributed to help guide career opportunties.
Mr Bruce Hancock, who is the AIA Student Compendium Co-Lead, said that the team work hard to distribute the compendium to schools, universities, training providers, and industry bodies across South Australia and beyond.
“The Student Compendium is a valued career resource. We’re proud that it is growing in demand, and is now seen as ‘the’ primary industries resource for connecting students to industry and to students.”
“During 2025, the Working Group has attended 18 Regional Field Day and High School student Career Expos, with many involving multiple high schools, with over 7,000 students, career counsellors and parents in attendance.”
“The Student Compendium is regularly achieving a 4.9/5 rating from both students and professionals alike in terms of ‘value in connecting students to primary industries,” he said.
“We are thankful to the SA Drought Hub for their support, along with our other industry partners.”
