In her new role, Ms Francis will support collaboration by identifying areas of crossover and exploring opportunities for alignment, particularly with the SA Drought Hub and other FDF programs. 
SA Drought Hub Director Dr Steve Lee said the appointment comes at an important time for drought resilience planning and program delivery.
“The Future Drought Fund plays a critical role in building long-term resilience across Australian agriculture,” Dr Lee said.
“Deb’s role will help ensure we are maximising collaboration, reducing duplication and identifying practical opportunities to work together across a range of drought and climate resilience initiatives”
Dr Lee said Deb’s firsthand experience in agriculture will be a valuable asset to the Hub and its stakeholders.
“Deb brings not only policy and engagement experience, but also a genuine understanding of farming systems in South Australia,” he said.
More recently, Deb worked in community engagement with the Federal Government, further developing her skills in stakeholder collaboration and program communication.
Ms Francis said she is looking forward to contributing her experience to the role and supporting stronger partnerships across the drought resilience landscape.
“Having lived and worked in regional communities for many years, I understand both the opportunities and the challenges farmers face,” Ms Francis said.
“I’m excited to help connect programs, people and ideas in a way that strengthens outcomes for farming communities across South Australia.”
