Director’s Update – December 2025
This month, the Hub team came together for our annual planning meeting, where we focused on shaping our priorities, activities, and programs through to 2026/27. It was a highly productive workshop that reaffirmed our shared commitment to delivering extension and adoption activities to build drought preparedness and resilience for producers, industry and communities.
We also hosted our second update webinar for Hub partners. It was fantastic to see so many of you join us online. Thank you for taking the time to connect and hear the latest on Hub activities. To celebrate World Soil Day (5 December), the SA Drought Hub hosted a networking day Cultivating Connections at Waite to better connect researchers with agricultural professionals working with farmers across SA’s regional communities. The SA Drought Hub hosted a series of four workshops in October, bringing together more than 60 growers, advisors and soil researchers to explore opportunities for improving soil and plant water use efficiency. The workshops have laid the groundwork for future soil extension projects, with outcomes being refined for partner feedback and next steps. Read more here
The SA Drought Hub was pleased to have several Hub supported programs profiled at the recent MLA Updates held at the Roseworthy Agricultural College. This event provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the impact of our projects and to engage with producers, researchers and industry representatives.
As we approach the end of the year, it’s a fitting moment to pause and reflect on the achievements and collaborations that continue to strengthen the SA Drought Hub. We are pleased to present our annual report, which we invite partners to read here: SA Drought Hub Resources.
